Celebration of St. Mary Euphrasia’s Birthday and 13th Anniversary of Good Shepherd Health Access Building in Yangon
Yangon, July 31, 2025, at 8:00 AM – On this special day, the Religious of the Good Shepherd in the Myanmar Sector joyfully commemorated the birthday of our beloved foundress, St. Mary Euphrasia, alongside the 13th anniversary of our Health Access Building. The solemn and joyful celebration was held on the convent grounds, drawing together a spirit-filled and grateful community.
We were deeply blessed by the presence of two bishops, Rev. Bishop Francis Than Htun and Rev. Bishop Raymond Wai Lin Htun, as well as ten priests, including Rev. Fr. Nicolas Thein Aung, the parish priest. Many cherished guests also joined the celebration—religious sisters, friends, and members of the local Catholic community.
The day began with a Solemn Holy Mass, concelebrated by the two bishops and ten priests. One of the bishops presiding over the Mass delivered a heartfelt homily that touched the hearts of all present, reminding us of the enduring relevance of St. Mary Euphrasia’s mission and the courage it calls forth in today’s world. St. Mary Euphrasia was born with a deep calling to serve people, especially those most in need. Her life was a meaningful response to the suffering and injustices of her time, and her mission continues to inspire us today.
Following the Mass, the celebration continued with a joyful communal meal—a moment of fellowship, gratitude, and shared hope. We came together not only to honor the life and legacy of St. Mary Euphrasia but also to celebrate the ongoing mission of the Religious of the Good Shepherd in Myanmar.
May her spirit continue to inspire us to serve with courage, compassion, and unwavering faith.
