Celebration of St. Mary Euphrasia’s Birthday and the 14th Anniversary of the Good Shepherd Health Access Building in Yangon

Yangon, July 31, 2026 – The Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd in Myanmar joyfully celebrated the birthday of their beloved foundress, St. Mary Euphrasia, together with the 14th anniversary of the Good Shepherd Health Access Building. The celebration was held at the Good Shepherd Convent in Latha Township, Yangon, beginning with a Solemn Thanksgiving Mass at 8:00 a.m.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Noel Saw Naw Aye and concelebrated by seven priests, including Rev. Fr. Nicholas Thein Aung, the parish priest. Religious sisters, parishioners, benefactors, friends, patients, and members of the local Catholic community gathered in a spirit of thanksgiving to mark the special occasion.

Inspired by the mission and spirit of St. Mary Euphrasia, the celebration also highlighted the 14 years of compassionate service carried out through the Good Shepherd Health Access Building, which continues to be a source of support and care for people in need. The Health Access Building has become a reliable place of care and support for people, especially those who come from remote villages and distant areas of Myanmar in search of medical treatment.

Through the generous support, assistance, and donations of benefactors, well-wishers and donors, the Health Access Building continues to provide essential services for patients and their caregivers with the facility, which offers meals and temporary accommodation for them while they seek medical care, and assists them in accessing hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare services.

The celebration was a meaningful occasion to give thanks for the life and enduring legacy of St. Mary Euphrasia, whose vision of compassionate service continues to inspire the mission of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd in Myanmar. It also marked fourteen years of the Good Shepherd Health Access Building‘s ministry, reflecting the congregation’s ongoing commitment to serving people with compassion, dignity, and hope to vulnerable communities.
