Message Summary – Brief Sermon by His Eminence Charles Cardinal Bo
His Eminence Cardinal Charles Bo began by joyfully greeting and wishing a blessed Feast Day and Jubilee to the Good Shepherd Sisters. He expressed deep appreciation for their tireless commitment to serving the most vulnerable in today’s challenging times. Reflecting on the lives of St. John Eudes and St. Mary Euphrasia, he reminded the sisters that true love for Christ leads to imitation. The mission, like Jesus the Good Shepherd, is not just about doing, but about becoming – embodying Christ’s compassion and presence.
The Good Shepherd Sisters to carry forward the spirit of their founders in Myanmar, especially by standing with women and girls who are exploited and marginalized. Through the work, Jesus continues to seek the lost, as in John 10:11 – “The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” Jesus would say to you; “You have lived my mission.” The Sisters have brought hope and healing to the poor, the displaced, and the abandoned. St. Mary Euphrasia once encouraged her sisters with the words: “Courage, confidence—God will do everything if we let Him.” Let this inspire your community today, as your ministry of healing continues to be a powerful witness of selfless service to those on the margins.
St. John Eudes reminds us that love is always the first language of mission, and as St. Paul assures us: “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
